Today someone sent me a spreadsheet that, they said, was pulled from Oregon's campaign contribution database, ORESTAR.
It showed the contributions to 28 candidates by Chane Griggs and James Griggs between 2008 and 2022. The amounts ranged from $100 to $2,000, aside from a $5,000 contribution by James to Chane's campaign.
Since Chane Griggs is running for Salem Mayor against Chris Hoy, the accompanying email pointed out that while the Mayor's office is non-partisan, most of those receiving money from the Griggs were Republicans or conservatives.
That's true. But most of the donations, 25 of the 28, were in the name of James/Jim Griggs, with only three being in the name of Chane Griggs. Sure, usually a married couple have similar political views, but there are exceptions -- such as Kellyanne Conway (conservative) and George Conway (liberal).
So I leave it to whoever reads this blog post to decide what the information below means to them.
I've divided the 28 candidates into four categories: Registered Republicans (14), Conservatives (8), Registered Democrats (3), and Unknown Affiliation (3). I made the judgment call on the Conservative category, which wasn't that difficult, since the candidates were all known to me.
You can see that Chane Griggs made two of her three donations to Democrats, with the third going to Julie Hoy, the more conservative candidate in a 2022 Salem City Council race (who is unrelated to Chris Hoy).
So while it's clear that Chane and James Griggs make most of their political contributions to Republican and conservative candidates, Chane actually tilted toward Democrats in her three contributions. What we don't know is to what degree James' contributions reflected the political values of Chane also.

George Conway is no liberal — he’s a principled person but he is way, way, way not a liberal by any stretch of the imagination. On the basis that we must all unite against the greater threat of the MAGA death cult, we welcome him, but don’t kid yourself that he’s a liberal.

Don't overlook contributions to candidates for federal offices:

James Clayton Griggs seems to care a lot about whom Georgia elects to the US Senate.
