Regarding the School to Prison Pipeline, there is "solid data" that was reported by the Salem Reporter awhile back. Between January 2017 and December 2018, School Resource Officers made 25 arrests at McKay HS, 13 arrests at North Salem HS, 12 arrests at Roberts HS. The number of arrests at Sprague and West High Schools? One each. For me that is solid evidence of systemic racism. This, for me was enough reason to end the SRO program.

Jim, I found the Salem Reporter story:

https://www.salemreporter.com/posts/2565/for-50-years-police-have-patrolled-schools-in-salem-now-some-say-its-time-for-a-new-approach

The story just reports arrests made at each high school during a certain period. It doesn't say that school resource officers made the arrests. In fact, that information may not be available. Excerpt:

"The effectiveness of the school officers is difficult to measure. Salem-Keizer records when students are suspended, expelled or arrested but don’t note whether school officers were involved in the action. There is no ready measurement to show the results of police working as mentors."
