The urban / rural divide goes WAY, WAY deeper than political affiliation.
You might as well sort us by what brand of butter we put on our popcorn. The fine professor is merely describing the situation from his paradigm.
But as the closet conservative AND rural dweller that you are; I'm confident that you know where I'm coming from...

I can imagine the quizzical expression on a rural Oregon dweller's face when asked what their preferred pronoun is.
