I watched some of Trump's hugely insane press conference after the G-7 summit on my iPhone. It was deeply disturbing.
He made just about zero sense, blabbing on and on, for example, about Putin being kicked out of the G-8 because Obama felt something or other -- completely failing to recognize that Putin was ousted because he took over Crimea in defiance of international law.
Then Trump blabbed on and on about how wonderful it was that the United States was extracting more oil, gas, and coal from the ground after being asked about his skepticism regarding climate change, and what he planned to do about it.
He walked off the stage while the reporter could be heard plaintively saying, "You didn't answer my question."
Just when I think Trump can't act worse than he already has, he surpasses his worseness. I just scrolled down the Washington Post page to remind myself of some of his recent WTF?! moments. They include, but aren't limited to...
Trump wants his border wall completed by election day in 2020, even if land has to be seized by eminent domain, or indeed, by any means at all. He's reported to have told federal employees that he'll pardon them if what they do to get the wall built is illegal.
Trump wants to allow new logging in the Tongass National Forest in Alaska, which would affect more than half of the world’s largest intact temperate rainforest.
Trump wants to hold the next G-7 summit at his golf course resort in Doral, Florida, which would enrich himself from foreign contributions while he's serving as president, thereby making even more of a mockery of the Constitution's prohibition against this than he has already.
Well, here's one more thing I strongly suspect Trump doesn't want. Having his ass kicked by a woman in the 2020 presidential election.
That's why I just donated $250 to Elizabeth Warren's campaign. I also like Kamala Harris, but Warren has come to seem like a more viable candidate to me. Her polling is gaining strength. Her policy positions are appealing and plentiful. She projects an air of strength, confidence, and winnability.
There's a long way until the Democratic nomination is settled. I'll be fine with anyone who takes on Trump. I simply felt good sending some money Warren's way, because in this age of Trumpism, it's important to find bright spots in all the darkness Trump exudes.
Brian, WE AGREE!!!
I too want Warren to receive the nomination.
Can't wait to watch her and President Trump on the debate stage.
It will FOR CERTAIN go down as the funniest thing ever aired.
I don't know if my heart can take that level of sustained laughter.

I may die of laughter too - but what a way to go.

Warren's proposals are untenable. You just donated for demise of your index funds. Who is the crazy one here?
Warren is a socialist.
About Socialism:
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

As long as we are talking about labels like socialism....answer me this:
How is it that those who call themselves conservatives are not radical environmentalists?
Warren is actually not a Socialist. She is a Capitalists that does not deny the obvious fact that Capitalists need effective oversight.
I watched "American Factory" on Netflix. Americans will not become robotic Chinese workers. The culture does not allow that to happen and Warren's politics will not change the American tradition of individualism.
America will either find a way to deal with the increasing disparity of incomes or it will continue to follow the path to third world status where the enslaved class is increasingly forced into geographical and social isolation.

Some capitalists cheat and exploit. Is it thought redistributionists will not? Human nature will prevail in all systems. There will always be winners and losers. The concept of liberty and freedom from centralized control Is a more palatable guiding principle of government even if it does not always manifest in reality. There is only the illusion that the imposition of order will create it. Mandatory largesse is always regress for someone. Let a free market sort it all out. Our civilization is just a miniscule blip on the radar screen of eternity. That we are significant is only an idea. We are being swept by a tide we cannot comprehend. We flail hopelessly against it. Yet, in the end it all works out. We are always right where we should be, good or bad.
So, hail to the Chief whoever it may be.

I refuse to stop deluding myself that reason has value.
When I was coming of age, the world was a very threatening place. Millions died from monsoons in China and diseases in Africa. At the time, we were unable to do much about it and, at the college I attended, these disasters were personified as blessings...in a sense.
Without the mortality of those events, how much would population have grown?
Eighty five million human beings died in WWII. What if that never happened?
Would we all be even more screwed?
I agree that we are all being swept by a tide that we cannot fully understand.
Nevertheless...we can and should act purposefully.
I share your disdain for intrusions on personal liberties. I am somewhat anarchic (like you, I assume) in that regard.
Nevertheless, in matters that involve the common good, I support responsible central authority. Of course, the question of how to define "the common good" or "responsible" remains.
My rational self tells me that income inequality and the influence of money on politics are "bad" things and that, if human beings were not treated like slaves and politicians were actually in a position where they could be more than pawns, then the world would be a "better" place.
Naive?
Mayhaps

I agree.
Even if it appears futile we should act with purpose. It is the warrior's path.
Term limits could help. I would vote for that. The corrupt stay in too long. We may lose a few honest ones early but the benefit of their presence is outweighed by the harm done by the tenured who are "sold out" and wield more self-interested power.

Warren wants to change the entire economy and social structure in America in order to save all our lives from climate change, and if you oppose her draconian changes to combat the climate "crisis", then you are evil, you want humanity to suffer and die.
Like, even if she did get in, China and India and the developing world are going to go along with her.
Socialists (big central govt running everything power freaks) like Elizabeth Warren have seized on the problem of climate change to attempt a power grab. Nobody knows how climate change will play out, all the factors that cause it, or what will work to stop it.. if it needs to be stopped or can be stopped. Nobody. Still, 17% of Democratic voters are buying into her overall wish list: that the government should run the economy, that men like Justice Kavanaugh should be denied due process, and that your money and assets really aren’t yours at all ..they are hers for the taking. Government knows better than you what to do with your money. That's what her proposals say.
Elizabeth Warren is a menace to traditional American society and the ideals of freedom our country was formed by. Her vision would curtail individual freedom drastically. She wants to control you, me, everyone. She wants to run our lives. She wants our money, for climate change? No, for power. She is dangerous.
The stock market (economy) will fall if she is elected because she wants to stop industry. 401K's will be worth zilch. Nest eggs will become goose eggs. You gotta watch out for people like her. She looks like a gentle Granny but don't be fooled. She wants your stuff.
Plus, she comes off as a militant bitch. Oh, wait. That's sexist. My bad. If a man comes off that way he's just authoritative. It's not right to call an authoritative woman a bitch. Well, sorry. That's my take. I wouldn't want her for my mother-in-law.

Doesn't seem to be much traffic here.
Oh well, I'll talk to myself which is really all we do even when there is a lot of traffic. This is what happens while waiting for epoxy to set.
Elizabeth Warren has made it clear that she would impose a “wealth” tax on the assets of affluent Americans. That is seizure of private property because those assets have already been subjected to tax. Just for being successful you are to be used. It's like a cigarette tax. It's a vile habit so nobody will care. Hammer those smokers, they think. Same with the wealthy. They also are viewed as vile exploiters by the Left so tax the hell out of them.. they deserve it. Besides we know better what to do with their money than they do, right? Warren thinks she does. If you go trick or treating at her house she'll take your candy, not give you any, even though that is what she promises.
Warren supports abortion on demand, a view so extreme that Hillary and other dems would never have endorsed it even a few years ago. Now, it is policy for many democrats including Warren.
How could this be? Well, the media has mainstreamed radical leftist thought due to rank hatred of Trump. Anything that opposes HIM is OK. No longer is a zealot like Elizabeth Warren an outlier. She’s of presidential caliber in many media precincts.
Politicians like Warren who deny due process as in the Kavanaugh case are not even challenged when they deny Constitutional rights. If she says he did it, then he did it, even though numerous investigations found nothing. This is dangerous. The press/media have no problem with her radicalism and even embrace it.
People talk about a woman's right to choose and what happens to her body. Trouble is, there is another human in there. It is no longer HER body. It is THEIR body. Reader, what if your mother decided to have you snuffed because it was her right to choose? What about your right to choose? Unless your life has really sucked from the get-go you are probably glad she did not abort your opportunity to live because your presence was inconvenient.
Warren supports abortion right up until birth. Live human baby? It's OK to kill it. I find this repugnant. Yet many vegetarians on the left are OK with that even though they find it ethically repugnant to kill a chicken.
