It was Evan White who first proposed periodic "sweeps" using volunteers to the head of Code Enforcement, Brady Rogers, in a meeting I attended. He restated that idea last night. In response it sounds like City staff from the Planning Department plan quarterly sweeps to collect illegal signs in the ROW. Also Anderson-Ogilvie states that Public Works staff that are out and about in the City every day will begin collecting illegal signs. That could be huge if they do it seriously. It may only take once for a small business to have his/her signs confiscated by the City for them to correct their bad behavior. The Council just needs to stay on top of this and make sure the plan is well-executed. </p>
