Just a few months after we were married, we bought a 1963 Ford F-100 with a blown engine.
I, along with the help of racing engine mechanic, Allen Hawkins, produced a balanced and blueprinted engine to carry us through the years.
I was 22 at the time and all of my older friends pounded me with, "You'll never get that money back out of that truck".
These were friends, (like you) that are in a constant cycle of buying and selling their pickups in order to keep up with the Jones's.
40 years later, the F-100 still runs like a top and many of my good, good, buddy's have spent HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of dollars to keep up with the Jones's.
Additionally, recycling is a noble effort. But it takes second place to buying a machine, meticulously maintaining it and harvesting every single penny of your investment back.
Otherwise, nice looking Chevy! Generous of you to give it away....
