I was just in Salem last week, and again, I was amazed by how much downtown Salem is screaming for a makeover. Clearly, the Chamber of Commerce and city counsel have no idea what a gem they could have with a few municipal improvements funded with taxpayer dollars and a good dose of vision and creativity. It's really too bad the small business owners are so short-sighted that they don't see how investing in their community would improve their bottom line.

It is sad that the few but loud opinions of the short sighted have an over represented influence on policy decisions. As a business manager and owner I know my store would save significantly more then $210 a year by having weekend transportarion.
