OK, blog post title philosophical nit-pickers, the emotional core I want to get in touch with for my Stories from the Dark Side bit isn't exactly existential angst. But it's close.
I'm thrilled to be part of the next Stories from the Dark Side: Thursday, May 29, Grand Theatre, 7 pm. Tickets $10 in advance, $15 at door. Oregon Crêpe Company and Santiam Brewing Co. will be offering food, wine, and beer before the event starts at, I think, 7:30.
I've got a good dark story to share, as do the other presenters.
You can see who other dark story-tellers are on the Stories from the Dark Side Facebook page. For one, Rob Melton, a.k.a. Rob the Bartender, will be back to tell another shadowy tale.
The great thing about this event, from my story-teller perspective, is that it's a win-win deal. If my story comes off all entertaining and enjoyable, great.
But if I bomb on stage, hideously embarassing myself, and I slink off afterward into the downtown night, depressed, despondent, and disturbed beyond belief -- hey, I'll have material for another Dark Side story!
I'm already bothered that the bio I wrote for the event organizers is longer than anyone else's. Makes me look like a self-centered, egotistical, blabby guy who likes to talk about himself.
Which, now that I think about it, is pretty damn accurate.
