Lake Oswego isn't "cool." Portland is "cool" -- and businesses are leaving, not coming.

Jack, compared to Salem, Lake Oswego is cool. Believe me, it is.

You mentioned the Salem Futures Project in an earlier post on the SJ. In a conversation I had the other day I shared my vision for Salem based around a "federation of neighborhoods". Every part of the city would have a mixed use, main st. style node anchoring their neighborhood and those would be connected to the city center with streetcars and greenways. He responded "that sounds like Salem Futures". Perhaps its time to revisit that vision and compare it to what we got instead... a craptacular collection of blighted stripmalls, empty parking lots, and brutalist parking garages.
