i am thinking of moving to Salem and the only person I'll know is my sister.. my question is this.. what kinds of resources are there for single mothers who have special needs children.. ie, Threapy, Dr's, Specialists, ect.. i also would like to hear about transportation ie bus.. i have more questions not enough space lol

Heather, I don't much about your first question. I'll try to remember to ask some people who know more about the resources available to special needs children.

Regarding bus transportation, it isn't great here. You can check out the Cherriots web site: http://cherriots.org (We do have a cool sounding name for the bus system, but I've heard that it is limited in terms of routes and running on weekend/nights.)

Feel free to ask more questions. There's a lot to like about Salem, along with a lot not to like. How much you like Salem might be affected by where you're coming from and what you expect from a city. On the whole, it's a great place to live. Close to Portland, beach, mountains, Eugene.
