O.K. I'll say it before you can; I'm a gearhead.
Our approach to all of this is to mount the SUPER AGRESSIVE studded snow tires right before they are needed and remove them as soon as it is past.
That way the snow tires and studs remain sharp and we dont wreck the pavement.
Last year we mounted and dismounted 3 times.
This year once. (so far!)
No Biggy.

ok so where did you purchase them. gloria

I got them directly from the Spikes Spiders web site.

Are you still using them and do you still like them? Any negative things about it?

Kim, I don't use them anymore. We sold the car that they fit. They were fine, but I've come to prefer Blizzak snow tires as our winter getting around solution. I put the snow tires on in mid-November, then don't have to worry about when or if it will be snowy or icy.

Blizzaks, and other brands of winter tires, have come quite a ways since the hydroplaning experience I described in this post. When I read reviews of the new winter tires on the Tire Rack web site, I felt much more comfortable using them in heavy rain.

I bought these for my Prius 3 years ago. The mountings are on the car, and I leave them there. We're in the woods with a gravel drive so, it's rough putting the spike spiders on.

I have Michelins and the tires deflate all the time--esp the front ones... 10#s / month I've had it in to Toyota and they checked and did all they could to find out why, but within a week the check pressure light was on...just a pound or two but if I let it go, it would slowly loose pressure. Toyota says its b/c of the spike spider hubs...is this even possible?! How would they cause this? If I have to take those off and on, that would not be very helpful. Thoughts?

Thank you
