On this eve of Bush's State of the Union speech, it is appropriate to ponder the all-important questions, "Does God bless America?", and "Does America bless God?" Recently there was a letter to the editor in our local newspaper that made a daring suggestion: maybe it is best for us to humbly bless God, rather than make imperious demands on the divine--God bless America!--such as our President is wont to do.
Obviously this person was a thinly disguised neo-pagan, or perhaps even an Al-Quaida mole, because the evidence is clear that God truly does put America first among all the nations of the world. A friend recently shared with us a blurry black and white image of this evidence, which was suggestive, but I wanted more. So a little sleuthing in a great urban legend website, revealed a photo in living color that demonstrates the extent of God's blessing upon the good old U.S. of A. I'm tremendously relieved, since all this talk of war had been making me wonder whether we're about to do the right thing. Obviously this is a sign, not coincidentally, I'm sure, from September 11, 2002, that God is on our side. You need to ignore, like I have, that techno-babble down at the bottom of the page about how light filters through fabric, blah, blah, blah. Those with eyes to see, see!
