Below are two stories in the Indian financial press relating to the criminal complaint filed in February 2019 by Malvinder Singh against his cousin, Gurinder Singh Dhillon, the guru of Radha Soami Satsang Beas. (A Bloomberg story said that an investigation had been opened.)
Malvinder's lawyer requested that the Delhi Police's Economic Offences Wing provide a report on what actions have been taken on the complaint. A court has ordered that this happen by December 12.
I've been wondering about the status of the complaint, since the High Court of Delhi has ordered Dhillon and his family to repay money owed to the Singh brothers and companies once controlled by them. That's a non-criminal order related to money that reportedly went into the pockets of the Dhillon family through shell companies once directed by themselves and their close associates.
But unanswered so far is this question: Was Gurinder Singh Dhillon involved in a criminal conspiracy to obtain funds siphoned from public companies?
Some commenters on this blog have theorized that because Dhillon is a well-known religious leader with millions of followers, and has friends in high places, there's a potential of a cover-up by Indian authorities of his role in this financial scandal involving large amounts of money.
Hopefully that isn't the reason for the lack of observable progresss on Malvinder's criminal complaint.
Since India wants to be a welcoming place for foreign investment, it wouldn't look good if a guru was let off the hook by Indian authorities for bad reasons -- the only good reason being that after a thorough investigation, there wasn't evidence that the RSSB guru and his family did anything wrong.
Here's a Business Today story on this subject.
Delhi's Patiala House court has sought details from Delhi Police about the action taken on complaint by former Ranbaxy promoter Malvinder Singh against brother and co-promoter Shivinder Singh, Radha Soami Satsang Beas (RSSB) chief Gurinder Singh Dhillon, former Religare Chairman Sunil Godhwani, and others.
In February this year, Malvinder had filed a complaint in his personal capacity with Delhi Police's Economic Offences Wing claiming that his brother and other accused had colluded to cheat him. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Purshottam Pathak has instructed the police to file the action taken report by December 12, the next date for hearing.
Malvinder had named Shivinder, Dhillon, his wife Shabnam Dhillon, sons Gurpreet and Gurkirat, daughter in-law Nayantara Dhillon, Sunil Godhwani and his brother Sanjay Godhwani, and others in his complaint. He had blamed the accused of wrongly taking control and misappropriating funds of RHC Holding Pvt Ltd, the holding company of the Religare group.
ALSO READ: Daiichi case: Supreme Court holds Singh brothers guilty of contempt of court for violating order
In his complaint, Malvinder had blamed Shivinder of siphoning off funds "with the ulterior motive of gaining ultimate control of the seat of spiritual head of the RSSB which has been promised to him by Dhillon in lieu of this financial gain to himself".
Malvinder had also stated that Shivinder had "unilaterally signed a purported "family settlement" with Dhillon agreeing to absolve him of all wrongdoing whatsoever and agreeing that no liabilities or legal proceedings or criminality would be attributable to Dhillon". He further said that Dhillon had been "threatening him from time to time to sign the same settlement".
Malvinder and Sunil Godhwani are presently in the custody of Enforcement Directorate for interrogation in a money laundering case lodged by the agency in relation to the alleged misappropriation of funds of Religare Finvest Ltd (RFL). He will remain in ED custody till November 23.
And here's an Economic Times story.
A Delhi court today sought an action taken report from the Economic offences wing (EoW) of the Delhi police on a complaint filed by former promoter of Ranbaxy Malvinder Singh against Gurinder Singh Dhillon, the head of Radha Soami Satsang Beas (RSSB). Malvinder had in February filed a complaint in EoW against Dhillon among others for allegedly siphoning off proceeds from the sale of Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd.
Malvinder’s lawyer Manu Sharma today approached the court with a plea that there has been no headway in the case filed in February. “So far no action has been taken by the police on the case, in an effort to shield this man. We approached the court today with a grievance that there has been no headway in the case so far. The court has sought action taken report form the police,” Sharma told ET. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Purshottam Pathak has asked the police to file an action taken report by December 12, which is the next date of hearing.
Singh, in his case had also accused his brother Shivinder, the family members of Dhillon including his wife Shabnam Dhillon, his sons Gurpreet and Gurkirat and daughter-in-law Nayan Tara Dhillon and his former associates Sunil and Sanjay Godhwani of conspiring to misappropriate the funds of RHC Holding Pvt Ltd, the company that owned assets of the group and has sought ₹8,742 crore from the accused in compensation.
In his complaint has had said that Singh repeatedly reached out to Babaji, as Dhillon is called, to “resolve" financial matters.
He had mentioned that both brothers had given financial advances to the guru--directly to his entities and family and were invested at his directions.
Malvinder Singh has said in his complaint that his younger brother Shivinder permitted the “siphoning" off of funds with the “motive of gaining ultimate control of the seat of spiritual head of the RSSB" which has been promised to him by Dhillon in lieu of financial gain to himself.
Malvinder is in the custody of ED following a money laundering case related to alleged misappropriation of funds of Religare Finvest.
Whilst I’m certainly no criminologist or psychologist, Malvinder’s latest move, to demand an update report on his criminal complaint which was submitted to the EOW in February, is a stunning show of confidence in “the facts” as per his submission
Why would anyone demand an update report from the authorities “if” they didn’t have confidence in their complaint?
Is Malvinder lying when he accuses “God in Human Form” of owing Rupees 8,646 Crore? Are the loan documents/ledgers fake? Is it a lie that Malvinder received threats from GSD/his lawyer? If so, why on earth would Malvinder bring attention to these having already enjoyed over a month in custody?
Why do the flow of funds outlined by Malvinder resemble the flows mapped out by Bloomberg, which have gone unchallenged?
Surely, surely, it is now only a matter of time before “God in Human Form” is brought in for questioning, at the very least!

It might only be that Malvinder has a good lawyer with aggressive tactics, trying to paint the authorities as incompetent and to sway public opinion long in advance of trial. They'll all have good lawyers!
Lawyer-palooza!

All that missing money is either with the Dhillons.....or is buried somewhere along the banks of the Beas by the presently incarcerated Brothers Singh.
I have to believe the money is with the Dhillons. And that's because, by this time, someone would have unearthed evidence that the Brothers funneled the money into some hidden account or asset. But we haven't heard anything about that.
It's hard to believe that the Brother's Master Plan (sorry, couldn't resist) was to use the Master and his Family family as a clever decoy for stealing millions and millions of dollars that they cleverly hid somewhere, waiting to be dug up after they're let out of prison someday.

"a purported "family settlement""
Wasn't a copy of the family settlement published and admitted to? I thought I'd read it myself long ago. Unless my memory is failing, why are they calling it purported?

"Arresting Baba means exposing the corrupt politicians linked to the Dera from both BJP and Congress parties."
looks like this is going to be one arm of the foreign influence (those funding bjp/congress through black channels) vs the second arm of foreign influence (daiichi).

The Singh brothers mismanagement and criminality where millions have been siphoned through a Calcutta broker who is in jail has been exposed . After receiving 11000 crores after the Ranbaxy sale and now instead being in debt by 18000 crore is totally their doing .
Fooling Daitichi and with their arrogance where trying to implicate 3rd parties is a hog wash .
Posted by: Sethia | November 21, 2019 at 10:02 PM
One must be accountable for ones action .
The fact is that as the brothers along with Godhwani are in custody of the ED relating to Fera ie money laundering it reflects what they’ve done . The former finance minister is in ED custody in Tihar for same reason .
All this has nothing to do with political parties where for everything one uses such generic terms. This is what the specific convict has knowingly done . If politicians were involved nothing would have surfaced so hats off to the agencies who’ve put the right people in jail .

Malvinder has a history of corruption in unethical management of Ranbaxy pharmaceuticals and the reason for the 'big bust' by Daiichi Sankyo to begin with.
Ultimately what goes around comes around and often other's in proximity of association get tainted by the same brush.
All will come out in the wash.

Sarkar,
You say
If political parties were involved nothing would have surfaced.
Contradicts the fact that the ex-Finance Minister is in jail for a similar offense.

So much of gap between what GSD preaches and what he practices. This duality in personality is what GSD gained out of spirituality. Sitting on such a high pedestal, he betrayed the trust of millions by indulging in something so mundane and so temporary. God bless him and his family!!

Whodunit
Malvinders end of the corruption is already exposed. Money is out of his hands. What remains to be exposed is Gurus use of the money. Likely spent on bribing politicians, buying land from villagers, expanding reach of RSSB. All that is mostly unrecoverable whatever the court might say.

Completely ignoring the current legal activities/stances of the jailed Malvinder, Shivinder and “God in Human Form”, GSD, I sincerely hope the many, many allegations made by last year’s incredible Bloomberg article will now start to be answered by the Indian authorities following Malvinder’s brazen and bombastic actions yesterday
For a moment, let’s forget everything the Singh Brothers have said, and GSD’s subsequent defences...What reason would Bloomberg, the premier financial news agency in the world, have to make such seismic, disturbing and damning accusations against “God in Human Form”?
Have these allegations ever been challenged by GSD and/or his Dodgy family? Quite the contrary, Bloomberg’s article alerted SEBI to the financial skullduggery at play
We can all bury our heads in the sand however, we can’t deny the truth, at least not for much longer...a lesson Ram Rahim’s followers must now be coming to terms with...

Many evidence show that Baba, his wife, both sons took loan and had financial transactions
Baba even said he had deal with Singh brother and took money to buy shares...and Singh brother took all responsibilities of loss
Real Guru will never get into these type of deals...
Its just time..if political parties stop supporting Baba..he and his family soon will be in jail but Indian legal system can take decades...Bana Ram Rahim case took more than 10 years....

In the end it's the truth that prevails. Without defending or offending anyone I couldn't resist me from saying that people who are so easily generalising the Baba term in black paint should at least ask themselves once if they are so sure about something. At beas people are being taught that even a single penny owed to somebody is going to be counted when we meet our end. Hard earned and honestly earned money is one of the five principles everyone is asked to follow at Dera Beas. And being a medical officer, a logical person I never go blinded or even BIASED by my thoughts. If these allegations come true it would be a catastrophe for any believer or follower of Dera Beas including myself. But just like many other awesome things we are also taught that nothing remains hidden from almighty and almighty never lets his followers down. I believe in God and coincidentally I believe in Dera and I never confronted any conflict yet. May all know the truth soon though I know many won't be satisfied even with that.

A trusted Baba of a trusted lineage of His trusted mega-following of now and yore ( exact copy of His predecessors in Him as revealed by some on the. Inside) can fool us quite simply by dramatizing acts in outside world while equanimus (can not say, if I spelled it correctly mean keeping equanimity), settled and every moment watchful of His alloted sheeps - the souls - the consciousness.
He must be playing safe and honestly and detached. I think He must be above attachments and detachments. He is the Chief - the one pulling the strings of us mortals of which He has chosen Himself to be one among us now.
Just watch His rotating eyes. not stopping any moment - restless eyes - the shining eyes - the twinkles in His eyes - a child's eyes - ... among sangat in satsangs which I have been watching for twenty years now.
These are rare eyes with rare restlessness with rare love with rare affinity with rare... for His belowed souls.
How He proves His credentials associated with His esteemed Gaddi / Chair handed over to Him by His most worthy predecessors with complete faith placed on Him, is to be seen in days or months to follow.
Lets keep watching a spiritual act ( at the back regulated from inside by the One ) in World's domain. By an esteemed mystic.
Posted by: Meditator | November 22, 2019 at 06:24 PM
"In the end it's the truth that prevails." There are historical events from 1000 years ago that are debated vigorously and will never be agreed on. Truth cannot be discerned so easily as to reliably "prevail" at all times. That's just a dumb saying.
"being a medical officer, a logical person I never go blinded or even BIASED by my thoughts."
LOL WHAT??? Doctors' biases kill people every day. Doctors in your part of the world are... well, you know. How does considering yourself logical and going to medical school make you superhuman?
"If these allegations come true it would be a catastrophe for any believer or follower of Dera Beas including myself."
There is sufficient evidence available to you right at this moment to decide if the Baba's actions are morally and spiritually aligned with his public teachings. You, being a big brained logical medical practitioner, shouldn't need any other authority to tell you what is true or isn't true. If you have been educated even slightly, you can be your own arbiter of truth. If your entire life is one of seeking authority figures to tell you what is real, right and true, then why are you giving out medicine to the public? You'll probably end up hurting people.
Posted by: Jesse | November 22, 2019 at 06:52 PM
which mystics are you generalizing about?
I could cite RSSB mystics but I don't wanna be banned
(and/or get a public caning for littering a CofC thread).
But, I'm sure no matter how many citations, it's bound
to wind up a street brawl that would roil the peace
and harmony of our quiet church.
Peace out!

Again, I’ll ask the question; Why do the hardcore GSD believers think Bloomberg, the premier financial news agency in the world, would have to make such seismic, disturbing and damning accusations against “God in Human Form”?
Have these allegations ever been challenged by GSD and/or his Dodgy family? Quite the contrary, Bloomberg’s article alerted SEBI to the financial skullduggery at play
Prior to coming across this article, I honestly had no opinion on GSD at all, neither for or against. As I’ve stated several times, many members of my family, and my wife too, are ardent, passionate followers and I’ve respected those beliefs
However, having carefully read the Bloomberg article, probably 25 times, I have absolutely no doubt that GSD, aka “God in Human Form” is heavily involved with the obvious financial skullduggery that’s been committed against innocent shareholders
Furthermore, everything that has transpired since the article (Malvinder’s EOW submission, the HC rulings in favour of Daichi, GSD’s eery silence followed by a limp defence filed at the 11th hour) has only served substantiate the accusations made in the Bloomberg article (imo)
Are these really the actions of “God in Human Form”? Really?
As I keep saying, it’s increasingly obvious that GSD is just a normal human being, with a normal human being’s flaws, desires. He’s greedy. He’s selfish. He’s admitted to partaking in transactions which violate SEBI’s rules re Rights Issues. I’m not even going to mention the actual frauds he’s likely heavily involved in, according to many, many news agencies
So, if GSD isn’t “God in Human Form”, what does this mean for the whole RSSB belief system?

Typical Indian government will drag this case for years, not to mention GSD is already 65 years old. Even if he is guilty, chances of him going to jail are very unlikely.

Why the hell are you naysayers still questioning gsds innocence? First he said no he didnt owe any money. Then he said yes I owe money. Regardless of the outcome, I hope you hardcore satsangis remember the old satsangs where it was said that even SITTING by meat-eaters gives you bad karma.
And RSSB is now in middle of the biggest financal scandals of 2019/2020. Money like this doesn't just dissapear.

@PS "The people who are writing such comments about GSD ji will soon get a bitter truth about this happening"
When will the bitter truth about Baba ,s illegal Land grab of 22 Villages and diversion of river Beas come out?
Did GSD get himself certified as a farmer? even for certified farmers residents and citizens of India the maximum land that can be held is 10 acres of first grade,25 of second grade,54 of 3rd grade.GSD, is holding many thousands of acres, how?.
Take prosecution and judgement of Amitabh Bachan (actor) for instance. The Faizabad court ruled that he was anything but a farmer and ruled that 1993 land transfer was illegal and he had obtained the farmer certificate by deception.
Your Baba tried to sell land (2018) in Himachal pardesh state, registrar refused on the grounds that land was more than the limit allowed to be held.Baba then applied to state government, state lawyers advised the government that it would be illegal to allow the sale of excess land,it could only be donated within the terms of 1953 Zamindar abolition Act.
All farming income in India is tax free but there are also rules to prevent any one from accumlating more than the ceiling.Your Baba has got around this ceiling law somehow but at some stage this fraud is bound to surface.

The way the Judges could get GSD to confess, that HE was the Master........Mind behind the fraudulent financial crimes, and coughs up the where all the syphoned money is hidden, in Off Shore locations, would be to arrest his Wife and two Sons, and put them in Jail. Then, offer him a Plea Bargain, that if he confesses, and reveals where the money is hidden, and take FULL responsibility for using his Wife and Son’s Names in the fake LLCs he used to Juggle money in and out of, the Courts would release the Wife and Sons from Jail, and drop all charges against them, and reserve a Jail Cell for him, with Malvinder, until money would be recovered to pay Dalchie and all of the other Depts.

Everyone must do their job. We only have the choice to choose to try to do it in the best way possible.
The courts must proceed to do what they see as right, as best they can.
Baba Ji must proceed to teach, and to live, by what he believes is right, as best he can.
Brian Ji must speak Truth to Power as best he can.
And each of us, with our different, mixed, blended, wonderful and flawed backgrounds must try to understand with an open mind, and make decisions about what to believe for ourselves, as best we can.
Naturally, we are shaped by different experiences. Naturally we will have different beliefs.
But it is also natural for human beings to learn from each other, to grow and adapt.
Sometimes we change for the better, and sometimes for worse.
We can all choose to step back from emotion and ask ourselves, "what do I really know?
" What has been brought before me?
"Do I fully understand this?
" What questions, if answered, would help me understand this better?
" What do I want to believe?
"What could this mean?
" What do I choose to believe today?

It seems to me that at of today we do know a few things that have been established.
We know that siphoned money passed into Baba Ji's accounts, though he had originally denied receiving anything.
We know those accounts may not have been entirely under his control.
He has admitted, to a degree, to this much and the investigations have provided significant evidence of the movement of funds.
What we do not know is the final destination of the money.
The Bloomberg audit terminates at Baba Ji's accounts.
But Baba Ji claims money was moved among these accounts.
And The Fortis and RHC audits confirm this.
Therefore yes, money went in, but money also came out.
We don't know where that money ended up.
In whose hands did these illegally siphoned monies end up?
And by whose hands?

I learn much here even from the exers', on this blog about the importance of some form of Meditation. Whether it be sehaj yoga, bhakti yoga, from the panjali system, or shinto practices, etc.
The last teacher I subscribed to was and still is Gurinder Singh Dhillon (aka) Baba Ji. And he like Soami Ji has expressed that each meditative form can lead to Nirvana in their own right.

Charan Singh, Quest for Light, Letter 380
Gambling is not approved by the Saints. This effort to obtain other's money increases our greed and adds to our load of karmas. One one cannot and does not get a whit more nor a penny less than what is his destiny. Who has ever solved this problem by resorting to such risky and uncertain methods like gambling? He might even lose what he already has. Many lives are ruined by gambling. Such money seldom brings happiness. Money that is earned by the sweat of one's brow brings a sense of peace, achievement and satisfaction.

Dear Spence and Di,
Sometimes giving evidence and answering questions cannot fill the gaps for the ways of a mystic. He puts his life at stake for the benefit of all beings 🙏♥️✨🌈👍
You are correct, it is, as you say;
God in Human Form versus Human in God Form
This person's life that he saved, is a threat to the institution, and the entire establishment of this corrupt and evil society.
He is possibly in line to be the next Guru after Shivinder
He is about the same age as Shivinder, but he might be a contemporary Teacher, while Shivinder is still alive and teaching

Millions of $ spent to save the life of a 'threat' .... Very logical. $'s very well spent.
Does this threat have a name as well?

This is very sad to read, Pema.
Because they are so special they receive all this that could have saved thousands?
Even the untouchables deserve to live. In fact their need for the Master's help is greater.
It is only the true Saints who reach out to the untouchables.
For a wealthy person to take the food given to the poor children, and serve it to his own fat cousins is obscene.
It is the ones of high caste that carry the most burden. They will be carrying boulders of sugar crystal on their shoulders in a long traditional line not too far off from now.
That line of Gurus from ages past now have six legs to take all they can carry, but now must do so to survive.
This line of Gurus will soon join that line, as is the tradition.

Si old news from a dodgy reporting agency.
Posted by: Jassos | November 23, 2019 at 04:22 PM
What's old news? Is it
1) A fresh dump of emails has been received by ED on November 15?
2) the e-mails have data connected with proceeds of crime and that Singhs are required to be confronted with the e-mails
3) that ED summoned two directors of companies “where proceeds of crime” has been transferred. (Not GSD or his family of course)
4) that Religare and its subsidiary RFL have been cheated and properties worth “hundreds of crores have been misappropriated, siphoned off and diverted through a labyrinth of financial transactions”.
5) That this financial scam was ORCHESTRATED BY SINGH BROTHERS in and around 2016
6) that it's Malvinder and his brother Shivinder Mohan Singh (GSD and his family - are not right??) therefore facing charges of cheating, criminal conspiracy and criminal breach of trust.
AND
ET is some dodgy reporting agency is it? What do you rely on? The Sun is it?

Then you are IN a family of initiates of the Radha Soami way?
My father introduced me to it, but he never joined himself. Perhaps he had enough good Kalm as he called it (karma), to enter the supra-causal higher spiritual regions.

Dear Spence,
You should be more open to possibilities.
Things are not always so black and white.

Hi Pema Tej
You wrote
"You should be more open to possibilities.
Things are not always so black and white."
This is true. Things could turn out either way. Can you accept that?
Or do you believe you already know the truth. In that case things aren't even black and white.
Just black, just the darkness of superstition and self - Serving urban myth.
I for one try to find explanations.
But as to the truth, let it unfold.
Be open minded. Or is open mindedness just something for other people, just for the ignorant?
The things you attribute to Shivinder and this mysterious unnamed soul could be wrong.
Gurinder might be a real Sat Guru. He might be innocent of the crime.
Or he might be guilty of the crime And a Sat Guru.
Or he might just be a sham all the way around.
I'm good with whatever happens to be the truth.
How about you?
He and Shivinder might not be slated for several hundred small lifetimes lifting boulders of sugar back to the commune or fighting the commune's endless wars with their neighbors, straining all six legs.
I could be wrong about that.
The price of having an open mind is the willingness to accept we could be wrong. And actually embracing that, because then we have gained some truth!
And you? Could you be wrong?
Do you carry an open mind?

One more point, Pema Tej
None of this will change my relationship with Baba Ji, just add more context.
If he really is in a financial pickle jar, I want to help. Let's get him back on track so everyone can get back to enjoying Satsang!
But for that, the truth must come out, and we all need to work together to help pay off the debts.
It's what family is all about.
And then the foundation is restored, and more solid than ever.
You see, if the debt is real, which I believe it is, it doesn’t matter on one level who is to blame. Malvinder, Shivinder, Sunhil, Shabnam, Gurinder, or? Or? Family pulls together to pay their debts.
Then privately, internally, members can hold each other accountable so the problem doesn't happen again.
It's not a blame thing. It's a 'let's just fix it and move forward together' thing.
That's how the world actually turns.
