An older friend of mine, currently an atheist, said he went to Catholic church for the first 65 years of his life, every week, because he wanted to go to heaven and he knew that his impure thoughts would keep him out.

I said, "How interesting. I have always thought of my impure thoughts as my heaven.

The Buddah believed that there was a way to end suffering and misery in this world. What if the world doesn't want to end suffering and misery. How cruel it would be "...to force a firestorm of empathy, compassion, and true selflessness upon..." people who need conflict and struggle, people who crave the adrenalin rush of pure hatred, bigotry and divisiveness, and people for whom life is all about constant upsets instead of workable relationships.

Oh, how cruel indeed.
