"While I don't share Louis C.K.'s existential-nihilistic conclusion that existence is fundamentally sad, I do believe that most of us have that inner sadness because we have not been encouraged to tap into or even to be distantly aware of the still deeper and limitless reserve of wonder and peace beyond that sadness. However, that said, the sadness is a fairly consistent substratum to our everyday experience---and I think C.K. DOES hit in on the head with regard to all our technology, social media, and (I would add) rhetoric about passion, purpose in life, making a difference, etc. as clever and not so clever methods of egoistically abating that symptom of emptiness rather than enter that emptiness and find the other side of it."
